Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Patent Attorney with a strong background in Biotech or Molecular Biology to join our client’s team. Compensation and Benefits:
Our client offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $145,000 to $155,000, tailored to your experience, education, certifications, and skill set. This reflects their strong dedication to attracting and retaining top-tier talent for this essential position.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and Prosecute Patents: Draft, file, and manage domestic and international patent applications, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and strategic objectives.
- Conduct Freedom-to-Operate Analyses: Assess potential patent conflicts for new products and technologies, providing clients with actionable insights to minimize legal risks.
- Perform Patentability Assessments: Evaluate new inventions and technologies to determine the likelihood of obtaining patent protection, guiding clients through the decision-making process.
- Research and Draft Legal Opinions: Develop well-reasoned legal opinions regarding patent rights, infringement, and validity issues, tailored to the specific needs of clients.
- Assist with Patent Office Litigation: Support clients during litigation processes, including drafting pleadings, preparing for hearings, and formulating litigation strategies.
- Advise Clients on IP Strategy: Collaborate with clients to formulate and implement intellectual property strategies that align with their business goals, including portfolio management and licensing opportunities.
- Monitor Patent Law Developments: Stay current on changes in patent law and biotechnology trends, providing clients with timely advice and insights to navigate the evolving legal landscape.
- Train and Mentor Junior Staff: Provide guidance and support to junior associates and interns, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
- Engage in Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and their expectations exceeded.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a law firm or in-house setting, with a proven track record of drafting patent applications, preparing legal opinions, and performing freedom-to-operate patent and literature searches.
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from a top-tier law school and admission to one or more state bars. All candidates must be admitted to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
- A Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Cell or Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or a related field, accompanied by substantial technical experience in these areas.
